i decided to change careers from working construction to office work. but i have long hair in braids and i am very muscled. when i go to interview they reccommend me for warehouse jobs instead of office/clerical fields. should i cut my hair or is that discrimination?

Yeah...it's wrong but a company has the right to set dress code standards...so it's a loophole...just get a low cut...and if you don't like the job or the cut...just grow your hair back...Good Luck

It is discrimination. Did you tie your hair back when you went for the interview, if not then that's why but other wise it could be that because you are muscly you might be more handy in the warehouse.!!

If you want a job in an office, longer hair portrays the image of a slacker, or someone that does not care about their appearance...whether it's true or not...that is what it says to the employer...The manager usually wants someone clean cut so that when outsiders are in the office, everyone looks neat and orderly.

I have always been a long hair but when its time to job hunt I lose the hair. I also have a mustache that makes people think twice, even if I do tuck it behind my ears before I go in for the interview

Well, unfortunately, this is the world we live in. Have you tried going dressed in a suit? Maybe they would take you more seriously. I have to admit, I have been known to do the same. Judge people by the way they look, I try not to, but I still catch myself doing it. I think we all do to an extent.

It sure does, i was born with really thick curly hair, and i straitene it once, my cousins almost fainted to how diffrent i looked, so your hair really changes your look.
