My hair is long and cut in long layers. It has no nautral curl to it at all. And becausee it is so fine and straight it will not curl and it is really hard to fix it any way. I am looking for a way to make it stay curled also I am looking for some new up do's. I always wear my hair down and I would like to have it fixed sometimes. Thank You for any suggestions.
Updo hair styles for fine, striaght, long hair?
I don't really know how you can make it stay curled, but here's a whole gallery of updo's that you can do at home:

Maybe you can find a good hair spray on Folica.com and follow the instructions on this video to put waves in your hair:

Try putting your hair up in a bun or if you want some kind of a curl buy a product made by Aussie.... called "scrunch spray" it works. just wet your hair and kinda scrunch it and it will stay wavy for hours.

try a french braid (if doing it youself it may take some practice but dont give up) i have long layered hair and a french braid is good for keeping the ends in. also try taking small bits at the front and twisting them towards the back and into a pony tail or just a plain pony tail with a cool band/clip. heated rollers and a curl boosting serym (sp?) might help hold the curls in. just take some time to have you.... and your friends if u want. to experiment with different styles. some of my best styles have happened by accident

For your hair, almost anything goes. Whatever you do, mix it up - sometimes down, sometimes up, sometimes in a bun, whatever. The same hairstyle is boring every day. You may find a new one that you totally fall in love with, and if you don't like one, well at least you've tried it and know not to do it again. Try different braids, like French braid or Fishnet braid (seventeen.com has an article with pictures on how to do this - look under hairstyles or prom - can't remember which)
To keep it curled - use a cream (natural is better - it makes your hair healthier) or gel like Aloe Vera hair gel (any brand, it doesn't matter) and then use a curling iron if you have one. If not then get one of those round brushes. If you don't have that then find something to wrap your hair around.
Curls are nice but you should also try spirals. If you're in the US and anywhere near a Wal-Mart or Target they have these things called Spoodles (or something like that) for about US $6 which are these flexible sticks with pins that hold your hair and if you follow the instructions and leave them in for as long as you need to then you will have beautiful spirals for much less than the cost of a spiral iron. My friend who has somewhat inflexible hair tried them and got the most amazing spirals - but she put them on at night so she had to take the pins out and leave her hair in the soft flexible sticks overnight.
Good luck and I hope your hair looks beautiful.

if you don't mind contributing to ozone depletion heres how i do mine:
pull your hair up into a loose bun all the way on the top of your head. armed with a hot curling iron and bottle of hairspray, brush and comb, take down the hair around the base of your neck. pull out a section about an inch wide and spray it with hairspray (start at the top and hold the spray until you reach the bottom.). wrap it around the curling iron, and while its on there spray it again. (one or two quick burst). hole it on the iron for thirty seconds to a minute. release the curl and move on until you have done all the hair down. spray each curl one more time, and then let down some more hair. (repeat steps.)
it's very time consuming, but it looks great.
